OUR HOSTS
Aakanksha
Aakanksha is from Dharamshala, India and was raised in a traditional Indian household, I left my law practice some time ago as I was looking for more meaning and satisfaction in my life and pursued Yoga which has filled my life up to with great rewards. Yoga and its principles came naturally to me and I orhinally completed my 500 hrs of YTT .
I now specialize in Hatha Yoga, and can take classes in Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative (Iyengar) Yoga as well. I teach Pranayam, Ayurveda, Meditation and Mantra Chanting as well. I have been teaching in a Yoga School in India (Mahi Yoga) and I am very excited to be helping other women to learn these.
Nicola (Scotland
Akhilanda yoga and massage founder Nic, brings her light and shares her heart with you to encourage you on your own unique path of self empowerment and self love through the practise of Yoga and Ayurveda.
A former student and now assistant of Yoga Vini school in the Himalayas in India, Nic is passionate about sharing her knowledge and developing individual practises with focus on alignment, breath work, Ayurvedic concepts as well as overall mind and body awareness.
Nic is an Ayurvedic Therapist, which goes hand in hand beautifully with her classes as she encompasses massage elements and oils into relaxation asanas. Using mantra, meditation, pranayama and asana, Nic will create a safe and encouraging space for you to find your peace and harmony within, helping you to enjoy just enough silence to hear and listen to your own inner teacher.
Lena – Canada
I am very passionate about everything I teach. I love to help women awaken their inner Goddess through empowerment, self love and compassion.I love working with the moon energy and incorporating in into my practices and teaching about this topic as well.
Taya – California
On my own spiritual journey, I have come to find powerful healing through body movement, meditation, and the tarot. I am honored to help guide others walking the path.
Trained in the Yin style of yoga and Chandra Namaskar, I combine the most beneficial postures for the meridians and physiological functions for release as well as allowing the innate inner wisdom to come forth within the flow.
This type of yoga is most aligned with the goddess and the feminine which I find truly transformative and empowering for anyone looking to reconnect to this innate part of our being.
By Turning inward, and tuning into the power of intuition, I honor and align with the elements, the tao, the seasons, astrology and the lunar cycle, to create a rhythm in my own life in staying connected to spirit . To infuse one’s life with ritual and reverence is to enrich the spirit of our own being.
The more we can know ourselves, the more we can bring our truth, our gifts, and our light into the world.
Aneesha – Canada/Russia
I am very interested in women’s healing and spiritual growth. I really like goddesses. I like to explore different archetypes, what is their influence on women and how to blend them in our everyday life. Energy is very important to me.
Megan – Australia
I discovered long ago it is my Karma to help others with an emphasis on women’s empowerment and my Dharma to unfold the mysteries within for the purpose of my Karma work. I have been working with women using yogic, Buddhist and shamanic practices for over 10 years witnessing increased positive transformation and overcoming of life obstacles. Yet, never without a little work, knowledge and practice.

Meditation and Yoga Retreat April 2020
Meditation | Yoga
The daily schedule consists of morning and evening restorative Yoga and guided meditation. As well as evening Yoga Nidra and Heart opening meditation, mantra and chanting sessions. Meditations and body movement will focus on self care and trust, deepening compassion, arousing your inner voice and enlivening your spiritual centre.
All participation is optional as our retreat aims to promote freedom and natural personal rhythm.
Healing | Woman’s Circle
Sharing and healing circles for meeting your true nature and expression of your voice will be a daily option. These circles are carefully considered for the healing and vulnerability that we experience and our instructors are trained in holding space and nurturing your deeper feelings. This is often a deeply transformation and healing experience. Our meditation and asana practices prepare the body and the spirit for this transformation to occur in a more gentle and harmonious way.
Freedom dancing/movement by candlelight (on alternate evenings).
Healing trip
The Balinese are deeply enriched in Hindu culture and a part of this is to offer gifts to the ‘Gods’ of nature.
They strongly believe that nature provides their beautiful land for them and to honor it they give daily blessing.
We are blessed to be attending a local traditional village family home with Kadek and his wife and mother, for
a lesson in these ‘offerings’ not far from the retreat centre but in an area that is uncommonly visited by tourists
and is considered a sacred area.
And, then be going to a temple for a Balinese healing ritual. It’s a magnificent experience going into the Balinese rural environment, richly colourful, and it will give us a taste of the real Balinese village atmosphere, you won’t want to go home :). You will need to bring some extra clothes for this experience as you will be getting wet as part of the ceremony .
We are expecting to leave for this after breakfast – The trip is 4 hrs in duration.
The trip is 4 hrs in duration.
Body Work
A daily massage will also be available by the local property body workers, (the best in town, apparently).
Ceremony | Woman’s Circle | Fire Dance
We will also be having a sharing circle one evening or afternoon and as we will be blessed with an auspicious (Balinese) full moon (June 3), this will include a fire ceremony and traditional Balinese dancing
Art Practices
Spirituality is a creative practices and art is a pathway to healing, self inquiry and/or deepening our consciousness. It allows us to tap into deeper parts of ourselves to uncover blocks, ideas or simply feelings that would otherwise seem unconscious. Mixed with meditative practices this can be a deep experience. We will be offering transformative art worhsops and circles in our art focused retreat.
Gita by the Pool
A dream come true! Megan will be doing Gita (Bhagavad) readings and/or readings from Sri Aurobindo’s ‘Synthesis of Yoga’, By the pool; with open discussion. Megan will also be doing one on one spiritual counseling session through out the retreat. It is encouraged to use these counseling sessions to share or move compassionately through any deep emotions or issues that may arise as one immerses themselves in themselves and the still environment. They also instruct on sustaining spiritual practice in ordinary life.
The Tao and Wu Wei
We encourage Wu Wei (Tao word meaning ‘doing nothing’) and are happy if you want to sit and just be or wander the property or lay by the pool. Each of us has our own healing needs, body rhythms as well as individual psyches (or soul) and life challenges (although we are all connected) and therefore we encourage each individual to move about the day as they will. Each retreat will have a day in the middle that will be for doing nothing (after the healing trip).

Kate- Colorado
My dharma and why I teach yoga and meditation is to use my voice and guide other women to their voice and self. I want women who have been afraid to be seen and heard to finally have a voice and be met there, to begin awareness of their inner self and thoughts and show kindness to those areas of themselves to begin to heal. -Kate
